What is a colour change wrap?

A new colour you can take back off.

A colour change wrap is vinyl film applied over your vehicle’s existing paint, panel by panel, with the edges wrapped and tucked so no original colour shows. From a few feet away it reads as paint.

The difference is what’s underneath. The factory finish stays intact and protected from chips and UV while the wrap is on, and when you want something else — or you’re selling the vehicle — the vinyl comes off and the original paint is still there.

It also costs considerably less than a quality respray, takes less time, and opens up finishes that are difficult or impossible in paint: satin, matte, brushed metal, colour-shift and chrome.

K

Why people choose vinyl

Wrap instead of paint.

A wrap is a film over your existing finish, not a treatment of it. That difference is the whole argument.

Cheaper than paint

A quality respray costs considerably more than a full vinyl colour change.

Fully reversible

Change your mind, or sell the vehicle, and the factory paint is still underneath.

Protects the paint

The vinyl takes the chips and UV exposure that would otherwise hit your finish.

Finishes paint can’t do

Satin, matte, brushed metal, colour-shift and mirror chrome.

Faster turnaround

A wrap is installed in days rather than the weeks a respray takes.

FAQ

Colour change wraps, answered.

The questions we get asked most about wrapping a vehicle.

Will a wrap damage my paint?

No. Quality vinyl installed on sound factory paint and removed correctly protects the finish rather than harming it — it shields the paint from chips and UV while it’s on. Damage happens with cheap film, poor prep, or removal by someone untrained.

How long does a colour change wrap last?

A professionally installed wrap in premium vinyl typically lasts five to seven years in the Okanagan climate. Horizontal surfaces like the hood and roof take the most sun and age fastest. Garaging the vehicle and hand-washing it extends that considerably.

Is wrapping cheaper than painting?

For a quality result, usually by a wide margin. A proper respray means stripping, prep, paint and clear, and the labour is what costs. A wrap also leaves your original paint intact, which protects resale value.

Can you wrap a vehicle with damaged paint?

Sometimes, but it depends. Vinyl follows the surface underneath, so dents and rough paint show through, and film doesn’t stick well to peeling clear coat. We’ll look at the vehicle and tell you honestly whether it’ll come out well.

How much does a colour change wrap cost in Vernon?

It depends on the size and shape of the vehicle and the finish you choose — chrome and textured vinyl cost more than gloss, and complex bodywork takes longer to wrap. Quotes are free.
